Selamat Datang ke Kuala Lumpur (Welcome to KL)

Kuala Lumpur Arrival - 05
April 24, 2012 by Toni Tate

It was a very smooth and painless flight from Bali to Kuala Lumpur and we landed at the low cost carrier international (KLLC) for Air Asia

20 minutes early at 8:40am instead of 9am which is even better.

Getting into KL and going through customs was so easy. That easy in fact we had fruit in our bags from Bali and so chose the line to declare it and we were waved through by the girl chatting on her mobile and not even looking or scanning our stuff. Which is fine by us of course!

I was absolutely busting for the loo and so went to use the toilet, lined up and it was finally my go only to realize that I was in a hole in ground toilet and not one that I’m used to (which wouldnt have bothered me if they had toilet paper instead of a hose connected to a tap) so instead of looking like a douche bag I stood in the cubicle waiting roughly about the time it takes and washed my hands and left still busting. (note to self look at the signs on the door before entering to choose a western loo)

It takes about an hour to get to the KL City Centre and so we caught Skybus (big air conditioned comfy coach) which we purchased when booking our flight to the train station KL Central and thought we would give it a go trying to get our own way to hotel.

With our suitcases in tow we finally figured out where we were going and purchased a train token that costed us 1.80 ringgit each (roughly about 56 cents).

Two stops later we got off and walked out into the humid and hot with pants and boots on at 11:30am lugging our cases through markets trying to find our hotel. Our hotel is called Starpoints Hotel on a street called Jelan Masjid India, that has lots of street markets, and this part of KL is nicknamed Little India.

When we finally found it, our room wasn’t ready so we had to go up to the roof restaurtant (14th floor) to wait. We ordered coffee and food then dessert and the room was finally ready at 1pm. The Starpoints Hotel is very modern and quite young and our Deluxe King room is spacious and new.

We refreshed grabbed our wallets and set out for a wander which ended up at a 5 storey techonolgy shopping mall with a cinema at the top called Capital Square. Merv was in his element. We went to every shop and not a shoe or piece of clothing in sight. Then went to Starbucks and did the usual checkin and then made our way back to the hotel as we were buggered and tried to organize internet for the room but it was a wired connection only so didn’t work so we had to go back to Capital Square to get a dongle and some dinner.

Back at hotel the internet was still not working so we put the tv on and passed out at 8:30pm (We had now been up since 3am)

Lights out!
