Got to the KL sentral early to catch a bus but none till 12:30 so a 2 hour wait, subway, starbucks… is everywhere
Toni suggested booking a room before we go, i had other ideas, she’ll be right mate!
Bus ride took an 45min to the base of the highlands which happens to be at about 1,400m above sea level. Take the bus as the trip including the cable car was 10RM each way per person. If you opt for a cab you will pay 100RM each way.
Wait in a cattle line where we were the only white people and I felt very tall for 30 minutes to take the cable car to the top.
Upon arrival we headed to the hotel to look for a room to spend the night as it was 2pm and we planned to visit the casino tonight.
Uh oh… we should have booked… i should have listened to toni as all the hotels were fully booked even with their 10,000 rooms. The followung day happens to be a public holiday and there are a lot of keen chinese casino goers looking to take their chances at the tables and slot machines.
We headed for the local starbucks to see if we could find a booking somewhere else that wasn’t part of the hotel network at the top.
Bingo! Toni found a room at the local apartments down the hill for $100 per night, sold we quickly purchased the voucher through Agoda and grabbed the next taxi to the apartments.
Jeeze you need to keep your brakes in check around here with the steep incline and curvey roads, a few minutes later and we arrived at the front of the apartment block to be greeted by a local trying to sell us a stay here to. We politeley told him that we had just purchased a room and next time we will look him up.
There are two buildings here and we went into one and the desk man instructed us to go to the other building level 1 room 1014 for the Agoda bookings.
We headed to the elevator and reached level one and well, this place doesn’t look very nice… could have had something to do with the snot on the walls, smashed glass from the fire extinguisher holder and what looks like blood drops in the hallway, oh and the smell. I wasn’t looking forward to the stay here.
After several minutes of waiting for another group to collect there keys we showed our voucher on my iPhone and Toni overhears the previous guests of 4 people getting a 1 bedroom apartment as the organisers were grabbing a mattress. Toni suggested we swap as we booked the last room which happened to be a 2 bedroom. They were thankfull and i was still aprehensve about the stay here as the repairmen were smashing the broken glass out of the fire extinguisher case in the background, oh joy.
We swapped keys after the verbal exchange with the ladies at the desk as one didn’t really understand what we were suggesting. She finally did and we were escoreted to the other building and our apartment on level 16.
Small is the understatement on the week here at our cozy apartment with a bathroom. After closer inspection on the small room which didn’t take very long it looks like they have taken what used to be a very large 4 bedroom apartment and installed a bathroom into the bedrooms and are renting out a room as an apartment. hmmm at least there is a window with a view. Im sure the group of 4 will be happy with the 2 bedroom we swapped instead of cramming in here.
So we decided to leave what we wouldn’t mind getting stolen which happend to be clothes and toiletries. So we packed my backpack with the valuables and headed upto the theme park for some action and thrills.
We took a cab for 2RM each and after about 30 seconds we arrive at the entrance to the theme park… note to self, walk next time.
