As our flight to Rome via Bahrain wasn’t until 11:30pm at night we decided to spent our last day in Dubai visiting Old City Dubai and the Gold and Spice Souks.
We checked out of our amazing room and hotel and left our luggage with the hotel and set off via taxi to head to the other side of Dubai and check out the gold, silver and jewellery shops (and I mean thousands of them). Alleys upon alleys of little shops glittering with different kinds of gold, diamonds and silver jewellery it was all I could do not to whip out the credit card to buy something, so Merv dragged me out of there and we headed to the spice souks.
Again just more alleys of little shops selling spices, grains, coffee and the like but it being so hot we decided to stick to the shade and out of the heat and happened upon the museum of Old Dubai.
Inside they explained the history of Dubai and how the people lived along time ago, all very interesting stuff.
We then decided to take the Subway and head to Wafi City which is just another shopping Centre, not as Grand as the Dubai Mall or The Mall of the Emirates but still had it’s own little different feeling.
Wafi City was pretty cool as it’s built like a Pyramid and had a huge TimeZone game like floor with many Egypt style touches here and there, like Sphinxes and Pyramids and Stone like facades. We also checked out underground Old City Shopping Souk that sold everything Dubai related and after Merv haggled one lady and man down I purchased a new ring.
The haggling tired us a little as did the heat so we went to an outdoor restaurant and had a coffee and another sheesha between us before heading back to the hotel to collect our bags and head to the Airport to head to Rome.
oh wow! all those jewels! amazing! which ring did you get?
