We are due to go Dune Bashing today and will be picked up from our hotel at about 3pm so we decided to check out the Famous Majestic Atlantis Hotel and the scenery surrounding it.
We decided to take a taxi as the weather is really hot and upon entering the Palm which is located not too far from our hotel we were amazed by all the apartments and condos fanning out from the “trunk”. Perfectly organized and clean and very inviting we could see the Atlantis in the distance. As we came out of the underground tunnel we were amazed by the sheer size and shape of the amazingly built hotel that made us feel like we just stepped back in time, to a place long ago surrounded by oasis’s and camels and sand.
It is actually surrounded by water on the manmade island and has over 1500 rooms, some of which you can expect to pay thousands of dollars a night but as we were not guests the closest we could get was the lobby and the entrance to the Aquaventure Water Park oh and the shopping but we walked straight on by.
After we looked around we decided to take the monorail back to the beginning of the Palm and as we did we crossed over workers still building on the Palm and can’t wait to see the finished product when we return again someday.
After we got off the train we decided to again get a taxi due to the weather and make our way to the Marina which is basically a street along the beach full of cafés and restaurants and yep you guessed it, more shopping.
We dipped our toes into the water on the beach as was surprised by the warmness of the water and raced back to the safety of the shade and to find somewhere to have a juice and a salad.
Then it’s back in a taxi to head back to the hotel to get ready to get picked up to go dune bashing…. Something I wasn’t extremely looking forward to (to be honest I was packing myself) although Merv was quite excited.
