First day in Bali – felt like 10!

So finally getting to sleep at about 2:30am after arriving at midnight, I awoke about an hour later to Merv snoring peacefully and a most annoying mosquito that would not leave me alone and kept me awake all night on the hour until Merv woke up and went for a run at about 7:30am.

Tired as I was and escaping almost unscathed from the blood sucking mosquito and one bite on my thumb that’s so extremely itchy I could chew it off, we were showered and ready to leave the room for breakfast and the day by 9am.

Breakfast was tasty, not what we are used to lately as that’s usually a freshly squeezed orange juice or a celery, apple and lemon juice but we do love the Bakung’s brekky of Bali Coppee, eggs, fruit salad and a very yummy pancake with honey and boy were we stuffed. Tomorrow we have planned on skipping the full breakfast for the fruit and coffee only.

We left the hotel around 10ish and went for a walk, stopping to book our swim with the dolphins for Monday and then stopped in at Starbucks to use the wifi and check in with the family to let them know we are A-OK and kept walking taking in beautiful Bali.

The humidity the first day is always stifling and we had to keep ducking into the air conditioned shops to catch our breath! But we love it so after stopping for a cold drink and a Quick bite to eat for lunch.

We decided to head back to the hotel for a swim but got sidetracked by an awesome looking Health Spa. We were lucky and it was happy hour (1-3pm – so happy hours) and it was buy one get one free so we went for a 2 hour massage, scrub and soak package and WOW it was the best massage ever, I don’t think either of us have any more tension or knots in our entire bodies.

It was a very modern facility and we had the best service that by the time we left we were both so relaxed we practically floated back to the hotel with nothing but smiles on our faces.

I decided to then get a manicure while Merv went to the hotel pool and had a couple Bintangs til I was done and joined him in the pool. Ahhhh refreshing!

Time to tan and watch Merv fall asleep in the sun after more Bintangs and I too start getting sleepy so we head back to the room for a nap and before we know it it’s 7:30pm and dinner time!

We decided to have traditional Bali food that you eat with your hands that had some ”interesting” dishes but was so tasty we almost rolled out of the restaurant and had to ”walk it off”.

Back to Starbucks and a stop in at the 24hr supermarket to get some Mosquito killer spray and some water and fruit and it’s back to the room (we had a little four legged amphibian waiting for us, so had to shoo him away before entering) for some Bali tv. I watched a little Indonesian Idol but had to change it as I couldn’t tell if the judges were saying the singer was good or bad. (I thought it was good, but what do I know) and we found an English movie and it’s time to get sleepy ready for another relaxing day in Bali!

Ciao for Now
