The plan for Saturday night was to go out and have a few drinks and a boogy on the dance floor but as usual things don’t always go to plan.
After our fun day on the Water slides at Waterbomb Park we quickly went to Starbucks to check email and grab a chocolate croissant from the bakery that is to die for and the we trekked our way back to the hotel which is about a 10 minute walk and so close that I’m determined to never use a taxi but that was about to change. (it’s yukky having your legs plastered with mud from the puddles from the rain).
Back at the room we decide to relax a little bit but not have a nap no matter how tired we were as it would sidetrack us from our plans but (and here is where the plans start to go a little wonky) Merv flicks on the tv and Gladiator is showing on HBO.
Sooooo…. We now are not leaving until that’s finished because he has only seen it like 300 times and may never get to see it again although I’m sure he has it on his drive which is in his suitcase!
So hours later (9pm) we are finally ready and leaving the hotel and although I’m determined to walk everywhere in Bali due to the mud and my white clothes it’s time to get a taxi to the centre of Kuta and take a quick walk through poppies lane (majority of the stores were closed by this time – doh for me) and make our way to the Macaroni Bar which serves Tapas and Cocktails and had a fantastic Samba drum band that was great entertaining.
We stuffed ourselves with amazing tapas and caipirinhas, bopped in our seats to drumming and were very happy when we stumbled to the Bali Discotheque and ordered a couple more drinks and a mango flavored Shisha!
And so the night goes on of puffing on the Shisha that turns into Merv playing with the smoke blowing it from his nose like an angry bull and me ordering a Bali jungle juice that comes in plastic drinks bottles and full of potent rum and juices. And a boogey here and there!
We then witnessed a fight in the back room some really bad karaoke and some surprisingly ok karaoke and Merv is smoked and drinked out and ready to leave. We probably stumbled into the room just before 4am and lights out!
Oh what a night!
Ciao (hiccup) for now!
