There is a big wide world out there and although one of us has already seen a lot of it, the other has not and there is no is no time like the present to start. So we thought why not do it together!
Most of our friends now are either married, married with kids or work away and have different lifestyles to us so we thought now would be the best time take on the adventure of a lifetime and travel the world one place at a time.
I quit my job as a Personal Assistant to a Real Estate Agent in September 2011 to help Merv set-up his Website Company, Real Estate Connected which specialises in Websites for Real Estate Agents and Companies. Having his own company allowed him to be out and about while working and so one day while in a coffee shop working on a website he thought, “Hey! I can do this anywhere!”.
This is when we decided we would go and set the wheels in motion for leaving asap. We sold our house, held garage sales to rid of the clutter, sold both cars, put our furniture in storage (parents and families garages), sent the dogs to family, moved into Merv’s mum and dads house, worked on making the business mobile and sat around and waited for Merv’s Australian Citizenship to be approved.
We received a letter in the mail on the 20th March to say he was approved and had 1 year to sit the Ceremony so we booked tickets for Bali, Kuala Lumpur and Dubai and then Rome on the 21st March, went to the doctors and had travel vaccinations on the 22nd March and were due to leave Perth on Thursday 19th April 2012 to start our 1 year trip around the world.
We booked accommodation for those stops and left everything after unplanned and just wanted to take it one day at a time, not knowing where we were going to be from one day to the next.
Watch and read our story as we travel the world one place at a time!
Love
Merv & Toni
